In the spirit of fostering the emerging talent in the St. Louis Performing Arts community, the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation is proud to produce and present an adjudicated competition showcasing the splendidly talented teens of the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
The Final Competition of the 1st Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase will be held on May 6, 2011 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Students will compete for scholarships and prizes both for themselves and for their schools. This event is a gift from the Foundation and will be FREE and open to the public. Tickets are required for admittance, please see Ticket Information below.

THERE WILL BE A HOLDING LINE FOR STANDBY TICKETS OUTSIDE THE FOX THEATRE BOX OFFICE ON THE NIGHT OF THE EVENT. IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO THIS, WE WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO GET YOU IN TO SEE THE SHOW BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE. |
The Final Competition is a FREE event however you must have
a ticket for admittance to the Fox Theatre.

Lindenwood University is offering scholarships to all students participating in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase as well as donating a location and volunteers for one of our April 9 Preliminary competitions on their Belleville campus. |

The Nine Network is preparing a program to air after the Final Competition that will focus on the students' journey as they prepare and compete in the Showcase. Video is being collected not only by the professional staff but also from students at 7 schools that volunteered to participate in a project whereby The NineNetwork loaned the students FLIP Video cameres to document their experiences. The Nine Network wishes to thank St. Louis Community College for their support of this special project. |

Information for participating schools
Guidelines
Current Guidelines for the Competition:
- Each school may select their entry by any means they choose. An adjudicated talent competition is suggested
- Entries may consist of one (1) to six (6) students working together on a cohesive presentation
- Students must be enrolled in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12 during the 2010-11 Academic year
- Students may compete in (but are not limited to) the following performance categories: Singer, Actor, Dancer, Musician, Comedian, Magician, Ventriloquist, Circus Skills performer (i.e. Juggler, Clown, etc.)
- Each entry must perform a minimum of 3 minutes and must not exceed 5 minutes
- Entrants must be available on the posted dates for Preliminary, Semi-Final and Final Competitions as well as the rehearsal dates for Finals

Equipment & Personnel
The Producers will provide the following equipment and personnel at all all rounds of competition:
- PA System
- Microphones (up to 6)
- CD/MP3/DVD Playback
- Sound Operator
- Piano
- Accompanist
Any additional equipment must be provided by the entrant and at their own expense. Please contact the Foundation in advance to discuss.
Judging Criteria
Judges will select the best talent regardless of category (i.e. dance, instrumental, vocal, drama, comedy and specialty act.) The judging criteria at each level of competition will be:
1. Technical Ability
2. Stage Presence: poise, personality
3. Interpretation
4. Originality
5. Content
6. Overall Appearance
Scholarships and Prizes
1st Place $5000 Scholarship
$2000 Cash prize to the school's performing arts dept.
2nd Place $3500 Scholarship
$2000 Cash prize to the school's performing arts dept.
3rd Place $2000 Scholarship
$2000 Cash prize to the school's performing arts dept.
One student will also be selected to receive a scholarship to attend Camp Broadway in New York City during the summer of 2011.
One act will be given the "I" award for being the most imaginative, inspired, inspiring and inventive.
Lindenwood University
All students participating in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase at the Preliminary Round will receive a $500 Scholarship from Lindenwood University to attend school at either their St. Charles MO or Belleville IL locations. As students advance in the competition, the scholarship amount will increase to $1000 at the Semi-Final round level, and to $2000 at the Finals Round level. Students who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall will receive an increased scholarship amount of $3000 to attend Lindenwood University.
