Musical Theatre                 Voice Audition Class

Time: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. 
 
Location: DaySpring Arts & Education                                                                 

                        2500 Metro Boulevard, Maryland Heights, MO  63043

 
Class: Musical Theatre Voice Audition Class  
            Learn how to audition from the pros and
                hear about their own audition experiences.
  • Intermediate Level 
  • Ages 12 & up
  • Students may choose to 'participate' or 'observe'
  • 'Participation' spots are limited!
  • Students who 'participate' must come prepared with a song to sing and sheet music in the correct key. Be prepared to sing the entire song or possibly only a 32 measure section that you preselect and mark on your music. 
  • An accompanist will be provided
  • Q & A session will take place in the last 10 minutes of class
Fee:    $20 for participants 

              $10 for observers  

               (pay at the door or over the phone--credit cards are taken)  

 

With registration for performers or observers, you will receive a promo code for discounted tickets to be used on select shows at the Fabulous Fox Theatre this season!

NEWSIES 

       Jordan Samuels 
STAGES Performing Arts Academy hosted a Master Dance Class providing 23 students the opportunity to work with Jordan Samuels, cast member of the National Tour of NEWSIES. Jordan had the students improvise movement and choreography to contemporary tunes and then sat down to a Q&A with the class.

WICKED 

 
              
Stuart Zagnit, Wizard, visited DaySpring Arts & Education and coached 7 young aspiring singers on the art of "acting the song".  Additional students & parents were allowed to 'observe' and ask questions. It was a full classroom!

Bekah Burnham, Ensemble, U/S Glinda, U/S Nessarose, & Bridie Carroll, Ensemble, U/S Mdme. Morrible, visited COCA to conduct a Master Voice Class. 15 students received personal coaching on 'audition songs' they came prepared to sing for the professionals.

WICKED 

 

 
Assistant Music Director, Dan Micciche, worked with 15 students at STAGES Performing Arts Academy. Working with each student individually on 32 bars of songs they had each selected and prepared in advance, Dan gave important feedback and tips on how to "act" the song.  Dan has worked professionally as a Singer/Actor and has served as Asst. Music Director and pianist for WICKED for close to 2 years.

 Matilda the Musical 

 Instructors Cameron Samson & John Michael Fiumara had 27 young aspiring dancers energized and working hard on choreography from the show at STAGES Performing Arts Academy. Class began with a warm-up and instructions about creating a character and acting through dance. A Q&A followed.

Matilda the Musical 

Instructors Shonica Gooden and Cameron Samson took the 17 students in attendance at COCA through a warm-up and then a rigorous workout learning some of the choreography from the show! Some sections were very fast (as you can see below). Cool down included a Q&A covering training, professional dance auditions and the rigors of a touring schedule.

WHAT: Master Voice Class   15 Students received one-on-one instruction on vocal technique and tips for "acting the song."

Kathryn McCreary, Wild Woman / Carlotta understudy

Katie holds a BA in music from the College of Wooster, where she got her start in classical solo voice, studying with Jim Mismas and singing with the Wooster Chorus under the direction of John Russell. Katie also holds a Masters of Music from THE Ohio State University, where she studied with Dr. Robin Rice. She also studied voice at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory with Dr. Rebecca Sherburn.
