DIRTY DANCING Master Class #2
October 24, 2014
WHAT: Class was a fusion of ballet, contemporary, and Latin movement for 19 ballet students, ages 12 - 17. Jenny guided the students through a routine similar to the one she uses to warm up for the show. Class started with a ballet-based barre and a bit of center to get moving and then transitioned into more contemporary movement. She introduced them to some Latin rhythm and taught the "Walk Down" section from "Time of My Life" which is a fun mix of Latin and hip hop. She also highlighted what they can use from their ballet training and what they've got to let go of when approaching these other styles of dancing.
| ||JENNY WINTON (Penny Johnson) was born in San Francisco, CA. She trained at the San Francisco Ballet School under Lola de Avila, Pascale Leroy, Gloria Govrin, and Shannon Breshnahan. She danced for Pennsylvania Ballet II in 2008. And in 2009, joined the Joffrey Ballet under the artistic leadership of Ashley Wheater. Upon finishing her fifth season with Joffrey, she was invited to the 2014 USA IBC where she competed as a Senior Soloist.|

BRING IT ON THE MUSICAL
March 30, 2012
Master Dance Class
Gregory Haney, La Cienega
30 students took class at COCA
"Class will be a mix of jazz and hip-hop. It's an urban mashup of both styles while still maintaining technical undertones. My background in dance comes from ballet, jazz, modern, and hip-hop so you will definitely get a mix. Another focus of the class will be story telling as dancers are storytellers with movement" --Gregory
