The Foundation engaged Storyteller/Author Lynn Rubright, Artist Diane Davenport, and Poet/Author Susan Grigsby to develop a special curriculum related to the story of the Lion King.  Under the direction of FPACF Board member, Dr. Marlene Birkman, they implemented this week-long program twice with existing summer camps at both New City School and at COCA.  Students were immersed in the sights, sounds, music, and culture of Africa, learning of its many creatures and human inhabitants.  The program culminated with all participants attending Disney's The Lion King at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in early Fall.

The Lion King The Lion King Performance

Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation granted tickets to the award winning Disney production of The Lion King. The recipients were from educational programs across the Saint Louis region. An extensive activity guide was distributed to educators to use with their students to enhance the educational impact of The Lion King. Participants received a Broadway cast recording of The Lion King, show lyrics and a study of African animals from the St. Louis Zoo.

The program explored an interdisciplinary approach to further the appreciation of the live event while using the production as a catalyst to spur additional research.
